HMP Garth organizes family matinees every 8 weeks in addition to the regular visits. These mornings are more relaxed and allow fathers to play more freely with their children. As in all prisons, you will need photo ID and proof of address before being admitted to the prison, and the prison will take your biometric data such as hand/fingerprints. There are restrictions on what you can take with you to prison, no cell phones, cigarettes, food and drink, etc., and you will be searched before entering the visiting room. It is recommended to arrive well in time for your visit and allow a time for all security and administrative processes. If you are old enough for your visit, you may be denied access to prison! You can leave items in the lockers at the visitor centre (£1 deposit for the locker). There is a tea/coffee bar in the lobby and you can take up to £15 of change. You book tours by phone from Monday to Thursday and Friday morning on 01772 443 503 The telephone is open from 09:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 16:00 (closed on Friday afternoon) When you call, you must have the name and prison number of the prisoners, the number of the visiting order, the color of the visit order, the date of the visit request and the confirmation of the visitors listed in the visit order. Social visits to Garth Prison are temporarily suspended after the national lockdown. We will update here as soon as that changes.
