Career opportunities at Calpine include positions in the departments and functions listed below: Katherine Piper has been Calpine`s Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary since April 2022. In this capacity, she advises the company`s management on legal, regulatory and corporate governance matters and leads the company`s legal department. Ms. Piper joined the company in January 2012 and most recently served as Vice President, Assistant General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. From 2003 to 2011, Ms. Piper worked at leading international law firms, where she represented clients in complex litigation and corporate restructurings, including in the energy sector. Prior to entering private practice, Ms.

Piper also served as a clerk in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland. Ms. Piper received her law degree from American University, Washington College of Law, where she received her summa laude degree, and her bachelor`s degree with honors from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Alex Makler has been Senior Vice President of the Western Calpine Region since May 2014. In this role, he leads the company`s sales team in California and the West, and works with the government and regulatory affairs team on policy and advocacy efforts in the region. Previously, Mr. served as Calpine`s Vice President of Strategic Origin and Development for the Western Region from January 2009 to May 2014. He joined Calpine`s legal department in 1999, where he served as the company`s lead attorney for energy crisis issues in California and became vice president and assistant general counsel.

He has experience in commercial transactions, project finance, federal and state regulatory activities, legislative matters, mergers and acquisitions, and all aspects of power generation development. Before joining Calpine, M. Makler has worked as a business attorney in major law firms in New York, Houston and San Francisco. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Economy and a Law Degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Calpine requires that a person newly hired in this position be vaccinated against COVID-19 within the first 28 days of their employment – if they have not already been vaccinated before starting work.
